Dan Gibson Argues Before the North Carolina Supreme Court

February 21, 2024

This morning, Dan Gibson argued Fearrington et al v. Greenville et al at the North Carolina Supreme Court—his fourth argument at that court.  The case addresses the constitutionality of Greenville and the Pitt County Board of Education’s red light camera program.  The North Carolina Constitution requires money Greenville collects from civil penalties fund public schools.  Pitt County agreed to pay some of the costs of enforcing the red light cameras.  Mr. Gibson argued this violates the constitutional requirement that the money “be used exclusively for maintaining free public schools.

video of the arguments is available on the North Carolina Supreme Court’s YouTube page.
